An
interview is conducted with the client prior to the actual
inspection. Questions are asked about the home or work space
and about the health of the occupants.
Because
you may not know everything you need to know about the inspection
and sampling process, the inspector will go over the entire
process in detail.
A
pre-inspection agreement will be made and signed.
All
areas of the home or work space are inspected for moisture,
visible mold and the potential for hidden mold.
After
the inspection the client will be advised of the findings.
If indicated, a recommendation will be made to move on to
the sampling phase.
|
- Direct Sample - A sample is actually cut from a carpet,
wall, cabinet or piece of furniture.
- Lift Tape - Mold is contacted on a piece of tape and collected
as a sample.
- Mold Culture Plates - The culture plates are placed where
airborne mold spores can contact the media in the plate
and collected as samples.
- Swab Samples - Suspected mold is collected with a controlled
swab and placed in media for incubation.
- Air-o-cell - Room air is drawn through a cassette and
sampled for contamination.
- Carpet and upholstery - Areas of the carpet or upholstery
are vacuum sampled through a cassette.
All collected samples are analyzed by a certified lab and a certified report of the findings is provided to the clients.
A contract for a "Remediation Plan" would follow
if toxic mold is found.
